LATEST NEWS FROM AR STATE FAIR

MADASAN WON SHOWMANSHIP in her age group. She called us tonight and said she won. This makes her another Purple Circle Winner. Congratulations Madasan and Sally. Madasan said Sally, her Maine Anjou heifer, was just perfect in showmanship. She did everything just right. We are not sure which one Madasan loves more Oscar or Sally but right now Sally is gaining points.

AR STATE FAIR-2008

Alan, Madasan, Sheyanne and Okie in the winner's circle. Okie won Grand Champion and put Madasan in the Purple Circle Club for the third year.

Another show season is over and when Madasan and Brett return from Little Rock on Saturday their show cattle will be turned out to join the other cattle on the Broken M Farm. Sally won the open Maine Anjou show at the AR Fair. She is already expecting a little one and should enjoy leaving the show ring. Sally put Madasan in the Purple Circle last year.
*
Romeo will retire from the show ring to join the Maine Anjou and Maintainer heifers in the back field. He plans on giving Oscar some competition. (I wonder what happens when you get too many show bulls and need to sell one???)
*
Oakie won the open Maine Anjou Bull Show and he will return next year to try to get his second Purple Circle Award.
*
After you turn these show cattle out to pasture they start looking pretty drab. Without all of the petting, pampering and expensive feed they start looking like the other cattle. They never forget the thrill of being special because all Madasan has to do is walk out in the field and Oscar comes jogging to her. She loves her Oscar and he loves her. Her heifers come looking for her too but Oscar is really the special one.

GREEN REUNION 10-4-08

Back row: Charles Jackson, Bobby Quinn, Jerrell Green, Glen Gibson
Front row: Mary Reid Jackson, Mildred Green Gibson
This is my mother's brothers and sisters.
Back row: Vira Young, Mazie Reid, Annie Bell Quinn, Ruth Howard, Denver Westfall, Mildred Gibson
Front row: Marvin Green, D.L. Green, Leon Green, Jerrell Green

Approximately 75 members of the Green family gathered at Center Point, AR on October 4, 2008 for a reunion. The food was out of this world. I think Mama Green must have taught her daughters the real secret of good cooking and they are passing it on down to their daughters.
*
I don't usually like to go to reunions but when this one comes around I always return home being so thankful for having been a part of this family. I am also thankful for all of the traditions, religious training, and love of family that has come from my mother's family.

(This post needs to be down under the Scrapper Homecoming but I got carried away and forgot to do it earlier.)

Aproximately 75 Green family members gathered at the Center Point Community Building in Center Point, AR for the annual family reunion.

MARY AND I WENT TO THE MOVIE

Mary and I traveled to Texarkana to see Nights in Rodanthe today. It was a real chick flick and the lady behind us literally bawled out loud. She sniffed and cried through the last part of the movie.
*
Mary and I are Richard Gere fans. We decided that he is aging gracefully and is still just as gorgeous as ever.
*
After the movie we enjoyed a steak at the TX Roadhouse. I saw three of my former students working there while attending college. One of them was our waitress. She got her training at Kenya's in Dierks.

ALICIA'S HOMECOMING

SCRAPPER HOMECOMING

I attended the homecoming at Nashville on Friday afternoon with Suzanne, Sheyanne and Zack. My niece, Alicia Howard, was a maid in the Scrapper Homecoming so we wanted to go let her know how proud we were for her.
*
When we arrived Richard, my brother and her father, had saved us a front row seat.
*
Several of my nieces and nephews have been in homecoming before but this was our first time to attend. I told Suzanne about this and she said, "Well this is the first one to call three times to invite us to attend."
*
We are so accustomed to seeing blue and white in the Outlaw Homecomings it was a tad strange to see all of that orange and black. We slowly adjusted to the color change but decided that those Scrappers need to come up and see just how the Outlaws do a Homecoming Ceremony. The decorations were lovely but not quite as elaborate at the Outlaw decorations. After the introductions the cheerleaders did about four cheers and that was it. Ours goes on forever . One thing that I was impressed with was the Queen's speech. She did a fantastic job and the young men and women look really classy. (For Scrappers...)
