PISTOL ANNIES

Scout and Madasan dressed to perform with the Pistol Annies.
A little dancing on their horses helps before practice...:)

The Pistol Annies are a group of dedicated horse lovers that formed a drill team to perform at the Smithvill, OK Rodeo. They met each week to practice and finally were ready to perform. They were such a crowd pleaser that they have been invited to perform at two other Rodeo's in the near future.

OH, HAPPY DAY

WRECK

This is the headband Sheyanne was wearing when her head hit the windshield.
This is Sheyanne and Sassy. They ran in the barrel race in Foreman.

This is the trailer after the wreck. Looks like Sassy had a little excitement.
The heavy duty bumper saved the day. The little car went under the truck.

Suzanne and Sheyanne went to a barrel race in Foreman on Friday night. On their way back a little white Saturn crashed into them and killed the driver. She was speeding and seemed to aim for the center of the truck. She did not leave skid marks or give any indication that she tried to miss the truck.

Suzanne said she did not have any time to do anything. She just yelled to Sheyanne that they were going to be hit. Sheyanne was texting while holding her dog. She normally wears her seatbelt but not tonight. She was thrown into the windshield but the headband she was wearing kept her from having cuts. The airbag went off and slammed her back into the seat. (You can see where her head hit in the last picture.) Suzanne said that when the airbags went off it sounded like a bullet. Her chest seems to be the one thing that hurts most because of the impact of the airbag but she feels that they saved their lives.

They both have bumps and bruises all over. Suzanne's left arm has some minor scratches and an area that looked like it was burned and the soreness in her chest while Sheyanne's head hurt, her back hurt and her leg. They were carried to St. Michael's Hospital and checked over and released. On Monday the hospital called and told Sheyanne that they had looked at her xrays again and saw that there was some damage to her back and she should see an neurosurgeon and have it checked out.

Some of their friends came along and assisted them until the ambulance arrived. Julia, Rachel and Natalie helped out by comforting them and then removing the tact and other items of value from the trailer. Another friend took Sassy and loaded her up with his horses and took her home with him.

Suzanne and Sheyanne have been very emotional about the death of the lady. She was 47 year old and a mother from Broken Bow, OK.

You know we never know when our life will end. It can happen so fast and I think the girls were so lucky that their injuries were so minor but it grieves all of us that a life had to be taken in their accident.
