GOING TO THE STATE FINALS

The Lady Outlaws celebrate after defeating Parkers Chapel 5-3 in the Class 2A tournament Monday night at Rector, Arkansas. The win moves the Lady Outlaws to 16-7 overall this year. They will now face their conference rival Forman in the finals this Saturday in Fayetteville at Lady'back Yard.

Sheyanne was called out on this play but as you can see the ball was never in the glove of the Parkers Chapel player. (This picture shows why Coach Tipton calls her "Scooter".)

BIG WINNERS IN STATE FINALS

The Lady Outlaws and a few fans are in Paragould, AR tonight and will play in the final Monday night at 6:00 p.m. at Rector. Rector is a little town about 20 miles from Paragould. We won our game on Friday and then again today.
*
We are staying at the Best Western Motel and will be here until Tuesday morning. Since it is a six hour drive we plan to spend the night and return home on Tuesday.
*
Our boys also won in their game today. So both of our teams are in the finals. The teams that win here will play in Fayetteville to determine the State Champions. That is later on in the month.
*
This is the first time in the history of our school that the girl's softball team has gone this far in the State Finals. They are so excited.

NONNA HAVING FUUUUUUNNNNN!!!

It is surprising what a grandmother will do for her grandchildren. I hate the hot but here I sit with a bottle of water, my sun screen, my easy chair, an umbrella, my shoes off and I'm lovin' the game.
*
All of this took place after traveling three hours to get to the ballgame. Then we traveled three hours to return home, rested on Sunday and returned on Monday, spent the night and returned home after the game on Tuesday.
*
Now most people rushed home after such a trip but not my bunch. We just had to get back to Texarkana and eat at the Roadhouse. Still that wasn't enough, the girls wanted to just stop by the Mall for a little look. Sheyanne and Halee needed graduation dresses so this was such a good opportunity to check out Dillard's. So away they went with black paint still on their faces and wearing parts of their uniform. They just planned to be gone a few minutes so I stayed in the car. About an hour later they returned with a pair of Nikes. We FINALLY got home at 10:00 p.m.
*
Now tell me that Nonna's World is not exciting. If I survive the trip to Rector I will be surprised.
I may need prayers.

SOFTBALL

The Lady Outlaws played three games in Regional in Junction City and will be traveling to Rector to play in State. Rector is just a six hour drive that everyone is dreading. (The boys are playing at Pine Bluff.) The games start on Friday.

*

This is the second year the girls have gone to State. Everyone is hoping they make it to the Finals in Fayetteville.

2008 Seniors at Prom

Sheyanne got her prom pictures in from the photographer and I couldn't resist adding her picture to the blog. I also added a group picture of the seniors that attended the prom. Several of my teacher friends might find it interesting to see their former students all grown up. (How many can you name?)

TELA AND RUSSELL GET MARRIED

Mr. and Mrs. Russell Young, Jr.
My niece, Tela Ruth Howard and Russell William Young, Jr., were married today at 3:00 p.m. at the Sunset Church of Christ in Nashville, AR.
*
My brother, Danny, had three boys and finally had a beautiful baby girl. She was his pride and joy. He would have been so proud of her today because she was a beautiful bride and married a fine young man. She was given in marriage by her three brothers, Jon, Ace and Wesley.
*
She had a memorial table set up, at the reception, with pictures of the past with her father. She also included a little book that he had read to her so much the cover was just about gone and he had repaired it with black tape. He was a very special man and was greatly missed on this very special occasion.

KING AND QUEEN OF THE PROM

Sheyanne and Elijah were selected to be the King and Queen of the Prom. I was so proud of Sheyanne because she wanted to make this night very special for Elijah since it was probably the first time he had ever received such special recognition. Elijah is a special child and has had a very tough life. He lost his mom at an early age and lives with his grandparents.
*
The King and Queen must have the first dance. Shey was a little nervous about that because she didn’t know if Elijah could dance. They got on the dance floor and she asked him if he knew how to dance. He said, “Yes, my aunt taught me. You want me to spin you?”
*
As you can see from the pictures they had a ball. Elijah is not bashful at all and we all know that Sheyanne has no problem with being shy.

SHEYANNE GOES TO THE PROM

Sheyanne worked all day getting ready for the Prom . She looked great in her beautiful navy blue dress. Her Aunt Jeanna did her hair and make-up and she was pleased with the way she looked. She found out today that she was selected as Prom Queen. She was pretty happy about that.

♪♥HAPPY BIRTHDAY♥♪

♪♪♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♪♪ EDNA, IRIS, JO ANN

The years just keep clicking away. I was 72 years old today. The morning started off with a call from my two brothers. They know I sleep late so to be CUTE they called early to wish me a Happy Birthday.
*
My granddaughter took me out to lunch at Pablanos. She was really wanting a new phone so she thought this was a good opportunity to get me in the mood to buy one for her. You would think her pacemaker had gone out by the way she was feeling not being able to text on her phone. She decided to wait to renew her contract so she can get the phone she wants and it will be much cheaper. That will be in twenty-one days. I dread it! She can call out and receive calls but cannot see the screen when a text message comes in. It may be a long twenty-one days.
*
I went to a softball game and then returned home for my party. It wasn't really a big bash since some of my friends had other plans but two of my buddies, Edna and Iris enjoyed cake and ice cream with us. Suzanne and her family plus one of Madasan's friends helped me celebrate.
*
I got some interesting gifts. You know if Iris is at the party the gifts are interesting.
*
I will end with this lovely little quote, "Don't regret growing older. It is a privilege denied to many." ~unknown author

BUNKO NIGHT

This was Bunko night for the month. Our hostess was Donna Kight. She is not known for being a great cook but tonight she out did herself. She had a very good Mexican meal prepared for us. (She had practiced all week on her husband to get things just right.)

We always have so much fun but the highlight of our night was Julia telling about visiting the funeral home and the excitement that followed. Iris was not present tonight but she had a big part in the story.

The other highlight was seeing the ultrasound picture of Erin’s little one. She and her husband (The Preacher) are so happy about having their first baby.

It was a good night to be with friends.
(If you look real close you can see that after two weeks I still have a black eye.)

This is the sixth grade Girl's Pee-Wee Basketball Team. Madasan and the other six girls make up the team. Sheyanne is their coach. They won a few and lost a few this season.

They were having fun with the photographer, Carmen, when she shot these pictures. She doesn't like to do traditional shots and the kids love it.

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
I just couldn’t resist putting a few of Sheyanne’s senior pictures on the blog. This is a small sample of the over one hundred fifty plus pictures that she had taken. They were all so good it was hard to select the best ones. (Can you tell just how proud I am of my girls?)

MADASAN (Tiny)

I seem to have more pictures of Sheyanne than Madasan on my blog. Since Sheyanne is older and involved in more activities I just have more pictures of her. Madasan’s time is coming.

This picture of Madasan (we call her Tiny sometimes) was so cute to me I just decided to put her on my blog for just being twelve and having such cool hair. She had crunched her hair and it really looked good. She is my quiet shy one and doesn’t talk all the time like Sheyanne. She likes to be told that she takes that after her dad. She works hard to be more like him all of the time. It bring a big smile to his face when someone says, “She’s just like her daddy.”

MORE BASKETBALL

-------------------------------
The headlines read in the Nashville News, “Lady Bears Pull-Out Victory over Lady Outlaws in Final Seconds.”

This was a real nail bitter! The Lady Outlaws played so well after being defeated in the first game by this team. They went into overtime and Spring Hill finally pulled out a five point victory after the extra stanza, 61-56.

They misspelled Sheyanne’s name but just getting her picture in the paper will excuse that.

The season is just about over. Senior Night will be Friday, February 8. Sheyanne is expected to ball because she is getting so emotional about this being her last home game. District starts the following week.

NEW GRAND DOGS

I wanted you to see my new grand dogs, Fancy and Dixie. In an earlier picture you saw that I said Jazzy had come to live with Sheyanne. Jazzy just didn’t seem to fit. One day Suzanne was singing one of Reba’s songs, Fancy is My Name and the little dog came running sooooo she became Fancy.

Crystal, Suzanne’s friend and the one that raised the dogs, had one little female left. Suzanne REALLY needed another one so she got Dixie. Fancy is a little jealous but I think things will work out since they are litter mates.

The two cuties are Yorkies and just needed to be together. ☺

AR STATE FAIR PICTURES FINALLY ARRIVE

In October the girls had pictures made at the AR State Fair and they just arrived.

The first picture is of Madasan and her heifer, Sally. The judge joined the picture because he liked the looks of Sally so much. Sally won Grand Champion heifer and also allowed Madasan to be inducted into the Purple Circle Club for the second year in a row. This is quite an honor.

The second picture is of Sheyanne’s little bull, Romeo. Romeo won Grand Champion Maintainer bull.

The third picture is of Sally with friends Alan and Megan. Alan helps groom the cattle and Magan, his sister, has shown cattle for years and has helped the girls in showing their cattle.

Showing cattle is a lot of work but the girls really get charged up when they bring home winners. They are already getting ready for the next show season.

JAZZY JOINS THE FAMILY

This is Sheyanne’s new dog, Jazzy. She is a six week old Yorkie.

If you look real close you will see Sheyanne’s black eye. She got that in the game with Caddo Hills. (This is her basketball look-no makeup. She had just returned from basketball practice.)

DOWN ON THE FARM II

There is no end to the activity down at the Broken M Ranch. Cousin Kendall visited last week and insisted that she go see the animals.

The girls put a halter on the new calf, Frosty, and Kendall wanted to ride him.

In the last picture she is sitting on the calf with her eyes closed. Little Frosty bucked a little and Kendall’s eyes got big and she yelled, “Do it again!”

After another round she declared that she was no longer going to ride her sheep but she was going to be a BULL RIDER.

In the first picture you can just imagine what Brett is telling her not to step in…

SHEYANNE'S SENIOR PICTURES

................................................................................
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// My granddaughter had her senior pictures taken. This is the one she picked to be on the cover of her proof book. She has around 200 just as good as this one inside the proof book. It took me a week to pick out the ones I wanted and I think her mom said she had it narrowed down to 30.

I picked this pose, in color, for my large picture. Her blue eyes just make the picture.

HOWARD CHRISTMAS-2007

♥♥SUZANNE, MADASAN, JO ANN, SHEYANNE♥♥

Christmas night was filled with excitement when the Howard clan gathered at Michael and Joanna's home. We had great food, the kids exchanged gifts and the adults had to play Richard's Swap Game. (He makes the rules according to the number he draws.) ☺

I'm have pictures of the families that were in attendance.

1. Top left-This is Danny's family. Tela and Ace were missing. Ace was in Houston with his new bride's family and Tela had to leave before we took pictures. She did have a big announcement. She and Russell are engaged and plan to get married in April.

2. Top right-This is Ronnie's family. Dana, Shelby and Sammy were not able to attend.

3. Lower left-This is Tom's family. Sonia was visiting her husband's family in Arizona.

4. Lower right-This is Baby Richard's family.

5. Large and in living color is my family. Suzanne, Madasan, Jo Ann and Sheyanne. (I think we need to change Madasan to Madasanne...)

If you will notice that all of the families are standing in front of the SCRAPPER TREE. My girls and I ARE NOT-after all we are OUTLAWS and you know how we feel about Scrappers even if they are family.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MADASAN AND FROSTY!

♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫

♫♫♫HAPPY BIRTHDAY♫♫♫
*
Family and friends helped to celebrate Madasan Billee's twelfth birthday Saturday, December 22, 2007.

*
A few days earlier Madasan's show heifer, Hoppy, became the proud mama of a new baby calf. Without hesitation, Madasan bestowed the name of FROSTY upon him. We were hoping the baby would be a female since Madasan gets so attached to her animals but since it turned out to be a bull we are hoping he will have all of the characteristics of his mom and can go to the fairs next year and eventually become a herd bull. If not....steers are not in big demand on the Broken M Farm.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM JO ANN AND TUFF

This picture has a cute story attached. I took the girls pictures and they took my digital camera card to Wal-Mart to have their Christmas cards made. This picture was on the card so they thought it would be so cute for me to have a card from Tuff and me so they had ten printed up and brought them to me. I did send four of his Corgi friends one of the cards. Rudy, Jack, Tess and Audrey got one. I also sent one to his original owner's dogs. They are the reason I have Tuff. They fought so much they had to be separated. I'm sure they will be sooooo happy to see their friend is doing well and that his ears and neck have healed up nicely.
*
I will be serving breakfast to my daughter and her family on Christmas morning and then the girls will tear into their presents. Then on Christmas night we go to my nephew's home where about forty Howard's will gather to feast and enjoy each other's company.
*
We have one other celebration before Christmas and that is Madasan's twelfth birthday. We will celebrate that BIG EVENT on Saturday, December 22.
*
HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all my friends and family.

CHRISTMAS BUNKO PARTY

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Our December Bunko party was at Erin Wright's in Mineral Springs. After being served a delicious spaghetti supper we played Bunko until we dropped.
-
As you can see from the picture several of the ladies wore their pajamas. If you look real close you will see that one on the back row has rollers in her hair. (Her halo is a little off center.) This is Julia, the queen of the Bunko Babes.
-
On our way home we stopped at Julia's parents and serenaded them with a Christmas song.
-
This is a great group of ladies. Just knowing them and getting together with them brightens my day.
