THANKSGIVING WITH FAMILY

My two beautiful granddaughters-Sheyanne and Madasan
Michale, Halton and Jo
My brother, Thomas's family:Alan, wife Paula, Brian and Sonia
Michiel, Joanna and son Halton
Richard, Ronnie and Jo Ann
Madasan and my daughter Suzanne.

Fourteen of my family gathered at my house to celebrate Thanksgiving supper. (Johnny, one of Alan's friends joined us.) My brother, Danny's family was absent so that cut our number down considerably.

We enjoyed the traditional foods that we have enjoyed for so long. Our mother was big on getting our family together. She made me promise that I would always continue this tradition as long as possible. She felt that family was important and it was very important for us to get together at least at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I am so thankful for my beautiful family and for having such great parents that taught us the importance of family and love for the Lord.

MADASAN WINS BIG AT STATE FAIR

I have been pretty slow getting around to telling you about Madasan’s great success at the Arkansas State Fair. I was really waiting for her pictures to come in but since they are still not here I thought I would post now and wait for the pictures.

Madasan and her dad went up to Little Rock on Thursday and stayed until Sunday night. She showed Friday and her heifer and bull win their class. She then showed again and Oakie won Grand Champion Bull and Bess won Reserve Champion Heifer.

On Saturday she entered the Junior Showmanship and won that. The junior winner had to compete against the senior winner and she also won overall Showmanship.

A very funny thing happened during Showmanship. She said the judge told her to pull her bull out and reset him. During the turn she said there was dead weight. She looked back and Oakie had decided to plop himself down and take a rest. She went back and gently urged him up and continued with the show. The judge commented on the calm, cool way she went about getting her animal back to showing.

She came home so happy with all of her winnings but was so ready to be back home. Missing so much school during the fair season is rough and the keeping up with the homework is no fun.
