DOWN IN MY WOODS

MADASAN AND SHEYANNE
Sheyanne has returned to UACCH for her second year. She is taking 16 hours and commuting. She doesn’t have classes on Tuesday and Thursday but Monday’s schedule is a tough one. She has class from 10:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and then goes back for class at 7:00 until 10:00.

Madasan went into the eighth grade. She has a good schedule and is enjoying junior high so much better than I thought she would. She loves basketball and really likes her new basketball coach.

Suzanne and the girls are going to rodeo’s nearly every weekend since Madasan is running barrels, poles and occasionally ropes. Madasan’s dad got her some calves to practice roping. They got Holstein calves because they are supposed to make good roping calves. Fair season is coming up so that means her schedule is really going to be crowded.

Suzanne and Brett now have chickens and have started getting eggs. They have two layer houses and manage two other layer houses for a neighbor.

My brother Ronnie had a stroke and stayed in the hospital for twenty-six days. He returned home and is receiving physical therapy at home. The stroke caused his left leg to quit working properly. He is mostly confined to a wheel chair. The doctor told him he would have to reprogram his brain. He is gradually learning to walk again but still must use a walker.

My life is pretty drab these days. I get my hair fixed on Friday and have lunch with four of my friends. We usually sit around and talk for an hour or two and then I often go to Nashville or DeQueen for some shopping. What a life!

AUGUST GIRL'S NIGHT OUT

Iris, Nancy, Julia, Sue, Ann and I went out on the town tonight. We left the big city around 4:00 p.m. and traveled to Texarkana to see Julie and Julia. We had mixed reviews on the movie. Some of us didn’t think it was so hot and some loved it.

Iris was our driver and with the new highway work we had great fun finding our exit. She decided to take the route we knew instead of finding out if there was an exit closer to the theatre. After we got down to the turnoff to the movie we saw the new exit coming into our highway. Next time….

After the movie we had some discussion on where we wanted to eat. Some suggested a sandwich/salad place but the two old ones wanted something better so we went to the TX Roadhouse. We didn’t have to wait because they were closing at 8:00 p.m. for their eleven year anniversary. They started rolling up the rugs and cleaning before we finished. We decided we had better head home before our waiter got any friendlier. He especially liked one of our group.

We were entertained on our way down with one of Iris’s favorite Mike Snider CDs. How funny is that guy???

We missed some of our crew because of previous engagements. Maybe next time…

Here is a clip from the movie.

FARM GIRLS AT WORK

Look real close at this one. They will probably kill me for putting it on the blog but I couldn't resist. This is one of their goats that they got for Madasan to learn rope and tie for competition. After they got her they discovered that she was expecting. She had her little baby but it was dead. This left a mama goat with a full bag of milk. They watched her several days being miserable and decided to milk her.
*
They tied her to Madasan's roping dummy, put her feet in a feed bucked and milked away. They don't know that goat milk is quite a delicacy with some but this went to the puppies.

HAPPY 19TH BIRTHDAY, SHEYANNE

Sheyanne celebrated her 19Th birthday with the Muse Family this year. This is the first time I have ever missed celebrating her birthday with her. I did make her a Lemonade Cake, which is her favorite and she enjoyed it the next day.
*
All of the Muse family took her to Pablano's Mexican Restaurant for the birthday celebration. They sent me a video of the occasion. The waitresses had instruments and really performed for her while singing Happy Birthday.
*
Sheyanne is planning to live at home this year and continue in her second year of college at UACCH. She will drive back and forth each day. That should be interesting. She will be taking 16 hours and is really looking forward to Chemistry. (Not)
*
She took Anatomy and Physiology II at Texarkana College this summer and was thrilled to pass that class.
