MADASAN'S BASKETBALL TEAM/COACH FEEMSTER

This is Madasan's seventh grade basketball team. As you can see they didn't have a very big turn out but they did quite well with these six. Coach Feemster was their coach. (Did you notice the socks?)

FUN DOWN ON THE FARM

My daughter called me yesterday afternoon and wanted me to help her take Madasan’s horses over to visit their dentist. He was doing the horses over at a friend’s barn so away we went. I grabbed my book and phone because I thought this would be an uninteresting afternoon. WRONG!

When we arrived the equine dentist, John, was going at it. He was talking a mile a minute, shirt soaked with sweat and horse saliva up to his elbow. He had this long, archaic looking tool and was filing the teeth of a very large horse that would prefer that his arm not be in his mouth. The horse’s tongue was hanging out because he had been given a large shot of fast acting medication that made him let this guy do his job.

While filing away, John was telling these fabulous stories. Now I enjoy a good story but let me tell you this fellow had stories. He had a MSE in counseling, a degree in Criminology, ran a FAST mile, great ball player, broke neck and messed up his chances of playing in NFL, had written two books and is planning to write another book. He had been a counselor for thirteen years and said, “I decided I couldn’t fix people so I started fixing horses.”

With all of this information he was also instructing the horse owners on the importance of equine dentistry and how important it was to the health of the horse. He said that horses that need attention to their mouth exhibit a wide range of behaviors from dropping grain while chewing to acting up while being ridden. He said that problems that arise in the horse’s mouth can create problems for the rider that could be catastrophic.

At the end of each procedure he had Terry, Rachel and Madasan reach back in the horse’s mouth and feel how it is supposed to feel. That looked like a lot of fun. I almost volunteered to join in this experience but decided that I could live without knowing.

I would have taken my camera along if I had known it was going to be such an experience. I did get some pictures from the web to make this experience more memorable. (ROTFL)

This is not John but it shows some of the tools used.

ROUNDUP ON THE BROKEN M

Finally, we did it... what a day!
Sam doing his part.

More action...

Girls in action.
Saddling up for the big roundup.
Madasan practicing her roping.

On Saturday morning the girls were recruited, by their dad, to help with working the cattle. They did some serious riding and with the help of their Border Collie, Sam, were able to get the cattle separated and in the right place. (Their mom's job for the day was to take pictures and laugh at their antics.
*The pictures are in reverse order because the blogger forgets to start with the last and end with the first.)

IMPORTANT HAPPENINGS IN MY WORLD

I live a pretty hum drum life now days. I stay up half the night and sleep late and the world doesn’t seem to notice. I go to church, go to the Post Office, have my hair done on Wednesday, visit Wal-Mart on Wednesday and then whatever happens, happens.

Some of the interesting things that have happened to put a little more hum in my life recently are:
-Marilyn Iris went to work at the local pharmacy.
-Sheyanne needed help with her nutrition class.
-Enjoyed a “Girl’s Night Out” with ten friends-Iris, Carol, Nancy, Julia, Maxine, Rachel, Katie, Marcy, Sue and Ann. (Two met us in Texarkana.) Nine of us rode, stuffed in Maxine’s SUV, to Texarkana to see New in Town and then we invaded the TX Roadhouse for some good food.
-I got roses for Valentine’s Day. (My daughter and my Secret Sister) Suzanne, Madasan, Sheyanne, Zack, Mary and I had supper out. Sheyanne got roses and cologne from Zack and was so excited when he entered the restaurant carrying his gifts. (Love is grand!!)

Blogging has been pretty drab for a few weeks. I would have had pictures of our big night out but forgot my camera. I’ll remember next time because Julia loves my pictures.

So here it is Sunday night and nothing is hurting so I think I will go to bed.

*Have you listened to the third song on my playlist? Remember Me by Celtic Thunder is so beautiful.

SHEY'S NEW DO

SHEYANNE AND LAYKON
Sheyanne came in this weekend and stopped by her Aunt Jeanna's for a little hair trimming. She text me wanting my opinion about getting bangs. I told her it was her hair to do what she wanted and I would like it. I also told her that no matter what she did she WOULDN'T like it. Surprise, surprise!!! She liked it!
Things are pretty slow around here when a hair cut makes the blog. A few more things have happened that were almost as exciting like Madasan finishing her basketball season with a win, I played Bunko on Monday night with the girls and had a ball and Suzanne and I took Madasan to the doctor today for a bad ear infection. Nonna's world continues to spin.
(I stole this picture from Halee's Facebook. It was taken at Kendall's birthday party.)
